Eugene Boateng

Nominated for BORGA as best upcoming actor at Max Ophüls Preis 2021

Eugene Boateng was born in Düsseldorf in 1985. He grew up there with his seven siblings in the well-known multicultural, socially mixed Kiefernstraße. His environment inspired him to his first dance attempts, which soon reached a professional level. With his dance he celebrated great successes and was part of various music video productions. Eugene made his first acting experiences through collaboration with lecturers at the Ernst Busch Acting School as well as the UdK Berlin. Since then he has been part of many cinema and television productions, such as the feature film BORGA, the TV movie ANNIE - KOPFÜBER INS LEBEN or the Netflix series TRIBES OF EUROPA. In Borga he plays the role of Kojo.

“In my community here in Germany, we don’t know of any German film yet that tells an African story from the perspective of a black person. BORGA is the story of my father, my uncle, the story of most black people who came to Germany and the story of all those who left their homeland in the hope of creating a better life for their families and themselves. It is the story of a black man, told without pity, just plain and raw.”

Christiane Paul

Christiane Paul is a successful actress far beyond Germany's borders, whose acting range covers every facet. In 2016, she was honored with the International Emmy Award. International TV audiences were recently able to see Christiane Paul in a leading role in the series COUNTERPART alongside Oscar winner J.K. Simmons, which received great media recognition, especially in the USA. She holds a doctorate in medicine and regularly shoots in German, French and English, and most recently appeared in PARLAMENT, a European series that won awards in France and was celebrated by the media. The highly decorated actress received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 2017 for her services to German society and culture. In Borga she plays the role of Lina.

Lydia Forson

Lydia Forson, actress, producer, and screenwriter, started her career in the reality show THE NEXT MOVIE STAR and the very popular role in SCORNED, among others. With THE PERFECT PICTURE, she proved her versatility as an actress and confirmed her place in the Ghanaian film industry. Since then, she has worked with some of Africa's most acclaimed film directors and producers in award-winning films. Lydia strongly believes in the concept of "paying it forward" and has been part of several charities and movements. Most recently, she has joined forces with others to stop human trafficking in Ghana and specifically in her hometown of Accra. In Borga she plays the role of the mother.

Adjetey Anang

Adjetey Anang is a Ghanaian actor known as "Pusher", which was his film name in the television series THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE. He has starred in several films such as the Ghanaian films DEADLY VOYAGE, A STING IN A TALE, THE PERFECT PICTURE, and the Dutch film SLAVERY. Adjetey's awards include the ACRAG (Arts Critique and Review Association of Ghana) Talent Award and the Ghana Union of Theatre Societies (GUTS) Best Actor Award. Adjetey works with UNHCR and participated in activities of UNHCR's LuQuLuQu initiative to prevent the spread of coronavirus in refugee camps in the face of the COVID-19 global pandemic in 2020. In Borga he plays the role of the father.

Jude Arnold Kurankyi

Jude Arnold Kurankyi is a Ghanaian actor. In Borga he plays the part of Kofi. He was born in Ghana and schooled there as well. He is also a dancer who teaches Afro-contemporary dance in an international baccalaureate(IB) school in Accra metropolis. Furthermore, he believes that Afro and Contemporary dance forms are mediums that can be used to express deep-rooted ideas and emotions. Though the two dances are separately unique, their existence and survival depend on each other. In addition to teaching at a school, Jude also manages a dance academy called Deju Dance Academy. Aside from being an actor and a dancer Jude is a musician who owns a live band called JP Band and has supported and backed numerous musicians in their songs, and he has two singles to his credit. His hobbies are playing football and watching movies. He travels around the world to teach and train both professional and non-professional dancers, takes part in various workshops as well. Jude Arnold Kurankyi holds a Diploma in Dance Studies and a degree Bachelor of Fine Art.

Emmanuel Affedzi

Emmanuel Affadzi is a Ghanaian actor. He is known for his appearance in the war film Beasts of No Nation (2015). He plays the role of young Kojo in Borga.

Prince Kuhlmann

Prince Kuhlmann was born in Hamburg in 1990. He became interested in acting and the stage at an early age. At the age of 11, he went to the musical school of The Lion King. In 2016, the acting career takes off. From feature films, series, TV movies, music videos, theater to commercials, Prince has shot everything. In Borga he plays the role of Ebo.

Ibrahima Sanogo

Ibrahima Sanogo is an Ivorian actor and performer based in Hamburg. Sanogo appeared in both theater plays and in a diverse range of television shows like Tatort or Deutschland ‘83. Additionally, he played in the cinema films Manche lernen's nie (aka Homies) (2018) and I Phone Y(o)u (2010). Sanogo performed in York-Fabian Raabe’s award-winning short film Between Heaven and Earth as well. In Borga he plays the role of Bo.

Joseph Otsiman

Joseph Otsiman is a Ghanaian actor, producer, and radio presenter. He is known for his role as Pastor John Moses in the feature film The Cursed Ones (2015). For this performance he received a nomination at the African Movie Academy Awards. Otsiman appeared in the short films Running (2016) and A Better Friend (2019). In Borga he plays the role of Nabil.

Thelma Buabeng

Thelma Buabeng is a German-Ghanaian actress. In 2003 she made her television debut in the ARD series "LINDENSTRASSE". She embodied a wide range of different characters in numerous television, cinema and stage films. For her performance in "WENN FLIEGEN TRÄUMEN" (2019), Buabeng was nominated for Best TV Actress at the 2020 Jupiter Awards. In cinema, she was last seen in 2020 as Amira in Burhan Qurbani's award-winning reimagining of BERLIN-ALEXANDERPLATZ. In Borga she impersonates the character Choga.

Jerry Kwarteng

Since 2013, he has appeared in various international and national film and television productions. This was followed by appearances in the popular Bavarian series "DAHOAM IS DAHOAM", the hit series "DEUTSCHLAND 83" or, alongside Jasmin Tabatabai, in the crime series "LETZTE SPUR BERLIN". In early 2021, Jerry Kwarteng can be seen again on Netflix in the British teen drama series "ZERO CHILL" (director: Tessa Hoffe). Currently, Jerry Kwarteng can also be seen alongside David Kross and Frederick Lau in the film "BETONRAUSCH" on Netflix. Jerry Kwarteng is co-founder of the media network "Die schwarze Filmschaffenden Community" (The Black Filmmaking Community), a network of Afro-German media professionals working for more visibility and social acceptance of German PoC.
